The Coastal Discovery Museum will continue with their Getting to Know a Gator program through August 28th. The program, which features live alligators from Gatorland in Florida, is held every Thursday at 9:30/11:30 or 2 p.m. An opportunity to have your picture taken with an alligator takes place at the end of each program. Contact the Coastal Discovery Museum at 843-689-6767

The New Destiny Center in Jasper County is looking for volunteers to help renovate a house for “Operation New Start”, which helps troubled and displaced teens. Donations of time, labor, and building materials are needed. To help, call 726-6780.

 

Raven Oaks Raptor Sanctuary in Statesboro will bring their Birds of Prey program back to the Coastal Discovery Museum on August 13th and 27th for a 10:30 and 11:30 program. The program includes birds that will be unable to be released and include a screech owl, red tail hawk, Mississippi Kite and barred owl. Oatland Island Wildlife Center in Savannah will be back at the Coastal Discovery Museum, on August 6th and 20th for a 10:30 and 11:30 am. program with an assortment of Lowcountry animals. Included in the program is a baby armadillo, opossum, corn snake, legless lizard, baby alligator and barred owl.
